Kaizer Chiefs assess Nigerian striker Kelvin Abara Obasi

Abara Obasi began his trial earlier this week, and the Amakhosi technical team continues to monitor his progress at the training grounds

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is running the rule over Nigerian-born striker Kelvin Abara Obasi.

Reports emerged on Friday morning that Amakhosi had welcomed the 21-year-old marksman for trials, and after a thorough research, Goal can confirm the presence of the player at Naturena.

Abara Obasi is currently a free agent following his departure from CSK Celarevo towards the end of last year.

He managed a mere three appearance without finding the back of the net for the Serbian second division side between September and November 2017.

Chiefs have already signed Leonardo Castro to add more firepower upfront, but it looks like they're not yet done in the transfer market.

Earlier this week, football manager Bobby Motaung assured Amakhosi faithful that there will be more signings before the transfer window slams shut on January 31.

The Soweto giants still have a spot available in their foreign quota, and Komphela appears to be more interested in bringing someone from outside the South African borders.

As things stand, the onus is on Abara Obasi to impress the technical team if he's to land himself a contract at Chiefs.
