Kaizer Chiefs assess Argentine striker Jonathan Philippe

Kaizer Chiefs are assessing Argentine centre-forward Jonathan Philippe as they look to reinforce their striking department for next season. 

Steve Komphela previously revealed that Amakhosi will cast their net wide in search of a quality striker, who will help both Gustavo Paez and Bernard Parker upfront. 

Now, they have welcomed Philippe, who briefly turned out for Boca Juniors at the beginning of his professional career in 2008. 

The 29-year-old is currently a free agent having recently left Greek side Agrotikos Asteras. 

Philippe was not offered a new deal despite finding the back of net eight times in 31 official appearances for Asteras.

He would become Amakhosi's second South American striker should the club decide to offer him a deal. 

Earlier this year, Chiefs signed Venezuelan forward Paez on a free transfer after impressing whilst on trial at the club. 

Paez is slowly establishing himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the league, but Komphela needs someone who can take the pressure off him.
