A lot has changed since we've last been in touch. That's the reason why I'm writing you just now. As you could imagine there have been many things I've had to take care of since leaving Bayern Munich for VfB Stuttgart last month. I hope all of you had a great start to the New Year.
For me, the New Year began with a relocation. Shortly before the winter break I signed my second pro contract at VfB Stuttgart and now I'm really looking forward to the game on Sunday against St. Pauli. It will be exciting for sure.
I feel great at Stuttgart – in the town, the club and with the team. The mood is good, the attitude is right and everyone is working hard toward our goal of re-promotion in the Bundesliga.
Since I was 14 years old I played for Bayern Munich and my dream was to become a pro there. The dream came true in November 2013 when I was substituted into a Champions League match against CSKA Moscow. It was an outstanding atmosphere for my debut, and we won 3-1. It was a moment I will never forget.
The following three years I have gained a lot of experience. Every training session at Bayern is a big challenge. You have to be focused 100 percent every second, and you certainly have to fight for your place and defend it. My goal was always to play on the highest level, and that's why I was very motivated every day I put on the first team's shirt. It was a huge opportunity to play with the best. I learned a lot and improved myself. I always gave my best and I learned I was able to keep pace with everybody. That made me more confident.
Football is quite easy ... If you have good performances on the pitch, you are accepted in the team. And then it is all the more fun.
I am very thankful for my time in Munich, but I am happy with my decision to join Stuttgart. Our training camp in Lagos, Portugal, was a perfect opportunity to get to know my teammates and the whole staff. Besides the work with the ball and the tactical stuff the coaches had good ideas to make us fit for the second half of the season. If you need a proof, take a look to the videos on Stuttgart's facebook page.
After the training, I liked to hangout in my room to relax listening to music or watching ice hockey. I am totally confident we are well prepared for our game in Hamburg against St. Pauli and I'm really looking forward to it.
Yours in football,
