The masterstroke has come in the form of winning three successive matches which has catapulted the team near the PSL top eight, but Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson is not surprised by his side's current form.

“It’s been like this for a while. We have been playing good football throughout the season,” Johnson told Goal.

“But we have just been poor when it comes to dealing with set-pieces and we ended up conceding silly goals,” he said.

“We were conceding goals, but we haven’t been playing bad football like I said. But now if you look in the last 10 games (in the league) we have conceded only two goals. So we have kept clean sheets and scored goals,” he stressed.

The former SuperSport United coach is also pleased to be able to blood in youngsters during competitive matches.

“Look, how do you change the team? You got to blood in the youngsters some times, and for us playing in all these competitions, it gives us an opportunity to blood in these youngsters slowly,” he continued.

“If we are leading in a PSL game, we will try to give youngsters a run. If we are leading in the Caf competitions, we will try and give youngsters a run and that will only bring experience and makes them more and more experienced players in the PSL,” Johnson concluded.
