The ex-Tusker striker missed out Team Ya Ziko's Confed Cup match in Angola but was happy to score opener on return

Kenyan striker Jesse Were made a dream return from injury to score for Zesco United in a league match on Saturday.

The former Tusker hitman missed out the Team Ya Ziko match in Confederation Cup away in Angola last week but was happy to score the opening goal against Nkwazi FC at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. John Chingandu then ensured that Zesco United bagged maximum points with a late goal.

Were was elated to return to scoring ways after a few weeks out with injury. "I missed Kenya match v Sierra Leone because of injury and also our Caf match away in Angola. It was very important that I return to playing and I am happy that I managed to put my name on the score sheet."

Zesco United will now confront Smouha of Egypt in Caf Confederation Cup before taking on Buildcon FC in next league match.
