It was tough beating Nasarawa United, says Fabiyi

The goalkeeper says his side were lucky to see off a tough Solid Miners in their Week Seven clash in Gombe

Gombe United goalkeeper Emmanuel Fabiyi admits his side narrowly overcame a stubborn Nasarawa United in Wednesday's Nigeria topflight clash.

Following their home draw against Akwa United, the Solid Miners were in desperate mood for an upset, but Fabiyi said they were defensively tight to avoid a slip against Kabiri Dogo’s men.

“It was a good game for both teams and we both played well,” Fabiyi told Goal.

“At the beginning, we knew Nasarawa United were a good team and were going to be tough.

“We knew that since they drew at home in their last game, they will be seeking a draw against us.

"We have been trying hard to get points away, but it was very difficult for us. The tension was so high but we luckily found a way to score.

“In the first half, they gave us a good fight but we took one of our few chances to get the winning goal late in the second half.

“I’m happy we are beginning to ground out result and become stronger defensively.”
