The striker revealed her doubts going into the shootouts but was glad she overcame to help her side secured victory

Tobi Okechukwu reveals she was ‘scared’ to take her penalty kick in her side’s GTBank Principals Cup victory over Government Senior College.

The striker had already missed a spot kick in the quarterfinals of the competition but her team eventually progressed through to the final.

But says she was still being haunted by that miss and nearly gave up on handing her side an advantage in the showdown against the Agege side at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The striker put her penalty past Esther Ogbe and saw her side emerge the winner of the school competition.

“It feels so great about us winning today. Well as for me I was so scared because during the quarterfinals I lost my penalty so I was scared that I couldn’t do it. But I had to brace myself up and get it done,” Okechukwu told Goal.

“I believe that penalty is a game of luck and I also thank God for being on our side.

“I was like why because normally as a player we need to score and that is what we are here to do - scoring goals. But I’m grateful to God that at the end we won the game,” she concluded.
