FC Goa are close to rope in Jesus Rodriguez Tato as an assistant coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL), Goal can confirm.

The club's Director for Youth Development, Derrick Pereira was the assistant to Sergio Lobera in the previous season. The Goan is expected to continue in his role of leading the reserve and youth sides with former India international Clifford Miranda assisting him.

Jesus Tato is not new to the ISL as the Spaniard was previously employed at FC Pune City during season 3 where he made 10 appearances and scored once. His last stint was with Lincoln Red Imps FC in Gibraltar which was preceded by another short stay at Secunda B side La Roda.

He also previously played under Lobera during their time together at Moroccan club Moghreb Tetouan, the same club where Ahmed Jahouh and Hugo Boumous plied their trade for. Tato and Lobera were also together at Las Palmas in 2013.

Tato is a Barcelona youth product and turned out for the Barcelona C team to kick-off his senior playing career and represented several Spanish sides like Las Palmas, Girona and Zaragoza.
