John Gregory's assistant coach lamented losing the Portuguese to a suspension after the defender picked up his fourth yellow-card in the league....

John Gregory’s Chennaiyin FC strengthened their grip at the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) table with a 1-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC but the Englishman was sent to the sends by the match official for his vehement protests.

Nevertheless, assistance coach Sabir Pasha dedicated the win to the head coach after the game and on being asked to give his opinion on Gregory’s sending off, Pasha replied, “We cannot comment on that. It was the referee's call. We dedicate this win to our coach.”

The turf at Jamshedpur has been under the scanner recently with head coach Steve Coppell himself pointing out that it is not ideal for football but Pasha refused to blame the pitch for the injury sustained by Bikramjit Singh in the eighth minute of the game.

“Bikramjit’s injury was not due to the pitch. We come from a different climatic condition so it was obviously difficult to adjust. I guess he didn't warm up properly,’ Gregory’s assistant lamented.

“We cannot complain about the pitch. You have to play wherever you are told. Both the teams played on the same surface,” he went on to add.

Chennaiyin skipper and central defender Henrique Sereno was shown his fourth yellow card in the league as the referee penalized the central defender for a foul in the box and awarded a penalty to the home side.

The spot-kick was saved by Karanjit Singh but Pasha admitted that Sereno’s automatic suspension for his four bookings would hurt the side.

“We will miss Sereno definitely. I cannot comment on the referee's decision to give the penalty,” he said before signing off.
