Speaking on his association with the Federation Cup champions, Dravid said, "It’s great to be an ambassador for Bengaluru FC, a team who I have been tracking across the last four seasons. Also, the connect is instant given I am a Bangalore boy. The way the city has responded to BFC has been tremendous and the club has some of the most passionate fans. The ISL will be a new chapter in the club’s history and I’m looking forward to being part of it in my capacity with BFC.
“It’s been terrific to see the kind of progress BFC has made over the last four years. It’s been one of the most professionally run teams and the kind of engagement they have been able to create with the fans and the people of this city has been really nice to see.”
On roping in a cricket legend like Rahul Dravid as the club's brand ambassador, BFC CEO Parth Jindal said, “Getting Rahul Dravid involved with Bengaluru FC is a huge honour for all of us. Being a true Bengalurian and a believer in youth, we can think of no one who imbibes the values and ethics of this club more than him.”
The two times I-League and Federation Cup champions joined the ISL this season after spending four seasons in the I-League. Since their inception in 2013, the JSW-owned side have won all the major trophies in top-tier Indian football and also reached the final of the AFC Cup in 2016.
Bengaluru FC kick off their season on November 19th against Mumbai City FC at the Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
Several eminent sports personalities have been associated with the club in last few seasons namely Badminton star Ashwini Ponappa, Tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and Cricketer AB De Villiers. The Blues had felicitated De Villiers in 2015 to commemorate his 100th Test match appearance.
