Following the dramatic loss against Chennaiyin FC, the coach refused to single out any of his players for criticism...

Kolkata outfit ATK bowed down to Abhishek Bachchan’s Chennaiyin FC in a 3-2 result at the Marina Arena on Thursday night. The five-goal thriller saw The Bengal Tigers score twice in a span of 12 minutes but that wasn't enough to keep Jeje Lalpekhlua from scoring the winning goal in added time.

Discussing the nature of the result, gaffer Teddy Sheringham claimed that his side managed the game better at the end and stated that the blame for the loss must be shared by the whole unit.

‘’We need to avoid the mistakes. I would never have a go at my players for making mistakes. As long as they show the desire to get back in the game, I will be a happy man. I am proud of them. We made a mistake at the end and we shouldn't let them in the area. I can’t single out anybody. We win as a team, we lose as a team,’’ expressed the 51-year-old.

Further, the former Manchester United player discussed that the players are showing the urge to improve their performance match-by-match. ‘’There was a desire from my players to get into the game. It was a fantastic game for neutrals but not for us,’’ he added.

Finally, the gaffer revealed the reason for replacing defender Jordi Figueras Montel’ before the one-hour mark. ‘’Jordi Figueras had a tight hamstring. He felt it a little bit and had trouble getting up and down,’’ he signed off.
