ISL 2017-18: NorthEast United's Avram Grant: We lost the game despite dominating

In match 66 of the Indian Super League, NorthEast United fell prey to FC Pune City in a 0-1 result which saw Marcelinho find the net in the 86th minute.

Speaking about the result, the Highlanders ’ head coach expressed his displeasure over the full-time scoreline which he thought was disheartening for his side who had better control of the match.

‘’The loss is very painful because we lost the game despite dominating. It’s not easy for me either because I don’t like to lose like this,’’ commented Grant.

Further, the Israel-born manager stated that the northeastern outfit had several opportunities to get themselves on the scoresheet while their opponents failed to create any real chances.

‘’We had a lot of chances; we missed some big chances. We came near the box on several occasions; we moved the ball well. (FC) Pune (City) didn’t even create a chance and they went out. We did one mistake; (FC) Pune (City) didn’t even create that chance- we gave them the ball and they scored,’’ expressed the 63-year-old.

‘’The result is very disappointing although the quality of the game was good,’’ revealed the coach whose side’s campaign for the playoffs are over.

They will next lock horns with Jamshedpur FC on February 10 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
