ISL 2017-18: Jamshedpur FC’s Steve Coppell - Need to attack as much as possible

Comments
The former Reading manager has backed his team to score goals when they face Mumbai City FC on Friday…

Jamshedpur FC coach Steve Coppell affirmed that Mumbai City FC are one of the top teams in this edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). The visitors are coming on the back of having won three of their last four games.

“Mumbai are a good team. Before this match we played against Pune City, Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin. Along with FC Goa, these are the best five teams in the league. We have to be at our best tomorrow (Friday). We must try and win the match by attacking as much as possible and score goals,” said Coppell.

The experienced coach has issues upfront given that they have scored a mere two goals in seven outings. He mentioned that his side will try their best to score their first goal on home soil.

“I really hope we score tomorrow (Friday) at home. I am desperate just like the home fans. I am confident we will score goals. It is a big priority for us. We are strong defensively. We have to find a balance in the team,” he affirmed.

The good news for Jamshedpur FC is that Mehtab Hossain has recovered in time to be fit for the tie while Anas Edathodika still needs more time to be back in contention for a start.

The pitch at JRD Sports Complex has come under heavy criticism from coaches and Coppell reasoned that it is also one of the reasons why they haven’t managed to score at home.

“I was speaking to Guimaraes (Mumbai City FC coach). He said it (pitch) is fine. Week-by-week the pitch will improve. It is difficult to play if the pitch isn't perfect. It's the same for both sides. We won’t complain but it’s a fact. The pitch contributes to goal scoring of course. The pitch was been difficult so far,” he pointed.
