Atletico de Kolkata are all set to confirm the signing of Darren Caldeira for the 2017-18 Indian Super League (ISL) season, Goal can confirm.

The Mumbai-born central midfielder, who can also play as a full-back, plied his trade for Chennai City FC in the I-League last season where he amassed 383 minutes.

Caldeira started his career with Mahindra United’s youth team and also trained with Spanish team Valencia’s Under-18 side.


In his professional career, he has played for the likes of Mumbai FC, Air India and Bengaluru FC besides a stint with Chennai.

This could be his first ever stint in the ISL. It must be noted that Caldeira has worked with Ashley Westwood, who serves as the Sporting Director for Atletico de Kolkata, at Bengaluru FC where they won the I-League and the Federation Cup.

With his signing, Atletico de Kolkata would now have a total of 16 Indian players for the approaching season.
