India have formally submitted a bid to host the 2019 edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel confirmed on Tuesday. 

"We are bidding for it. It is not that this is confirmed, we will try and convince FIFA at the FIFA conference in Kolkata" said Patel. FIFA Executive committee will meet in Kolkata from October 26-28.

With India set to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup next month, this announcement comes as welcome news for football fans in the country. The FIFA U-17 World Cup is scheduled to kick off on October 6 and will be held across six venues, with Indian team set to play their group stage games in Delhi. 

Praful Patel, who is also the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) chairman, feels that India is ready to host their first ever FIFA tournament.

"India is hundred percent ready to host the World Cup. Five out of the six venues have been added to FIFA already. We will add Mumbai soon." confirmed Patel.
