Following the veteran’s resignation on Monday, the new Uchendu Warriors handler has pledged to make the dreams of his erstwhile boss come true

Abdullahi Biffo says he will build on the legacy of coach Okey Emordi to actualise the latter’s ambitions at the Nigeria Professional Football League side, Abia Warriors.

Emordi threw in the towel 24 hours after his side’s 1-0 home defeat to El Kanemi Warriors on Sunday, with his assistant Biffo announced as replacement.

The former Niger Tornadoes coach who helped the Umuahia based side escape the relegation last season, vows to do everything to help the team succeed this season.

"I'm not happy to see coach Emordi [Okey] leave us," Biffo told Goal.

"We never expected this will happen. He was like a father-figure to me and the rest of the coaching crew, even the players.

"He really gave everything to make sure we got a good team and record success this season.

"We know the fans are disappointed but I must say coach Emordi did his best but unfortunately luck was not on our side. We will surely miss him and his expertise.''

"I hoped he would have stay a little longer with us but that's the tough life about coaching and it difficult moments. But as coaches, we left behind will accept his decision and carry on the good job he has started,'' he continued.

"We are going to work hard and build on his legacy, so as not to let the house he built collapse.”

Abia Warriors are eight with 11 points and Biffo will begin his first assignment in charge against Akwa United in a Week 10 clash billed for Uyo on Sunday.
