Ijaiye Housing's Nwanebi hails coach's impact

The skipper of the side revealed that their gaffer helped them overcome their fears for the Ikotun boys which propelled them to victory

Following Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar School's victory in the GTBank Principals Cup, David Nwanebi reveals their coach Oladipo Oyetunde motivated them to face Ikotun Senior High School.

First half strikes from David Lawal and Moses Toriola saw the Ojokoro side emerge champions of the eighth season of the school competition.

And the captain said they were 'afraid' of the Ikotun side prior to the showpiece.

"We feel very happy and thank the Almighty God for lifting the cup. I thank my coach [Oladipo Oyetunde] and my teacher Mr. Oyeleke," Nwanebi told Goal.

"As we started hearing news about Ikotun Senior High School equaling our feats; when we won our quarterfinal match, they also won. During the semifinals too, we both won our games. So we became afraid of them.

"We started thinking of how we could cope with them but our coach gave us the needed backup that we are capable of doing it. I really thank God that we made it," he concluded.
