Ijaiye Boys' Raheem reveals how he saved two penalties

The hero has revealed how he was able to save two penalties to help his side reach the last four stage of the GTBank Principals Cup

Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar School goalkeeper, Abeeb Raheem says he was happy to have helped his side reach the semi-final of the 2017 GTBank Pricipals Cup at the Onikan Stadium on Tuesday.

The Boys from Ojokoro pulled through to the last four stage of the tourney following their 4-3 win on penalties over Gbaja Boys Senior High School after regulation period had ended 1-1.

And the shot stopper, who won the man of the match award after saving two kicks said he never lost hope when they were trailing by a lone goal to the boys from Surulere.

"First, I must thank God for giving me the strength," Raheem told Goal.

"I was also not hopeless and I gave my best to help my team, and when it was time for me to play the penalty kick, I encouraged myself and it turned out well.

"Helping my team progress through to the next stage makes me happy that we are one step close to the title."

Raheem further admits that his side’s semi final clash will not be easy, but assured their fans that they will go all out for victory in the game.

"We are expecting nothing less than victory in our semifinal clash, regardless of who we are meeting next."
