Ighalo on target twice as Changchun Yatai bow to Shandong Luneng

Odion Ighalo scored a brace as Changchun Yatai unbeaten run of five games ended with a 3-2 defeat to Shandong Luneng on Saturday.

The Development Area Stadium outfit were punished by goals from Carlos Gilberto, Papiss Cisse and Diego Tardelli as Ighalo’s individual brilliance could not save them from defeat.

The Super Eagles registered his name on the scorer’s sheet two minutes into the second half from the penalty spot after Zhang Xiaofei was brought down.

He reduced the deficit with a 81st low shot past goalkeeper Wang Dalei to seal his consecutive brace in two games.

Ighalo has now scored eight league goals in 16 games this season and will aim to continue his goalscoring form when Yatai visit Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium to play Liaoning Kaixin on July 30.
