Wikki Tourists skipper Mustapha Ibrahim has pointed out that the change in fortunes of the Giant Elephants was never automatic and that the improved results were made possible by the renewed motivation of the players by the club management.
The Bauchi side got their first point of the season away from home in their last match which was a far cry from last season when the team had grabbed four away wins at the same stage of the season but Ibrahim informed that the draw against FC Ifeanyiunbah won’t have been made possible if not for the players renewed zeal brought about by the prompt receive of their match bonuses.
“We are grateful for the good work of the new management headed by Awulu Babajada. We now receive our match bonuses promptly. We got the one for the match with FC Ifeanyiubah immediately we got back to our hotel and we have been promised that we are going to get the one for the home tie with Lobi Stars immediately the game is concluded,” Ibrahim told Goal.
“This and others have been put in place by the management to ensure that we have new lease of life. The players are happy now and everyone is doing their best to ensure that we are at the acceptable place we ought to be by the end of the season. We are not yet at the place we deserve and we will continue to fight on till the end of the season.”
The Bauchi side are 16th on the league table currently with 31 points from 25 games and they are only a point away from the drop zone with 13 matches left to play in the ongoing season.
