After having signed as many as seven players in a span of 24 hours, the mighty Mohun Bagan have added yet another player to the list. 20-year-old Uttam Rai becomes the latest signing for the Kolkata based outfit.
The Sikkim-born forward joins 2014-15 I-League winners after wingers Israil Gurung and Nikhil Kadam put pen to paper on Monday.
Uttam donned the Minerva Punjab jersey in the latest edition of I-League, having made four appearances for the Ludhiana-based team, on his loan move from Chennaiyin FC. For the Super Machans, the 20-year-old came on just once, for a span of 31 minutes, in the 2016 chapter of Indian Super League.
It was in the year 2010 that Uttam was selected to join IMG Soccer Academy in Florida alongside 14 players from the then India U-16 national side. The following year he participated in the Dallas Cup for the junior national team but his play time was cut short owing to an injury.
In 2012, having netted six goals in only four games during the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification, Uttam was named as one of the Top 10 Players To Watch Out For during the 2012 Dallas Cup.
Uttam's new side Mohun Bagan is expected to start its CFL campaign in the second week of August.
