Chennai City FC suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of reigning I-League champions Bengaluru FC with goals from Roby Norales and Chekiyot Vineeth.
The Chennai-based outfit ensured that they go into the half-time break with a 0-0 score-line. However, twin substitutions from Albert Roca by bringing on Norales and Vineeth for the disappointing Daniel Lalhimpuia and Mandar Rao Dessai changed the course of the tie.
“Going into this game, we did everything that was planned. The last 13 minutes made the difference. This is our second game and the team is getting together. We can see that we are organised,” said coach Robin Charles Raja.
The coach was asked if he took any positives from their performance in the first half, Raja heaped praise on Prasanth Karuthadathkuni.
“We have a U-22 player (Prasanth Karuthadathkuni) and I told him that he is a future CK Vineeth because just in the first year when Vineeth played under me in the local league in Chennai, he had the same qualities. Vineeth is a big player now and Prasanth will get there,” he opined.
