Mumbai FC will host Mizoram outfit Aizawl FC in their fourth fixture of the I-League on 22nd January, 2017. The clash shall mark the return of former Yellows gaffer Khalid Jamil at Cooperage. The team from Maharashtra won two games in a row only to get hammered by mighty Bengaluru FC in their last tie at Kanteerava stadium.
“They (Mumbai FC) have been playing well this season and although they lost against Bengaluru FC due to silly goals, Mumbai FC are still a good side under Santosh Kashyap,” Khalid explained when asked to share his thoughts on why Mumbai lost to Bengaluru FC.
Furthermore, the 39-year-old looks forward to the 'homecoming' though he was unsure on how the fans will react. “It feels good to make a return at Cooperage. I have not thought about the reception I will receive tomorrow, but I am hopeful it’s good,'' expressed the Kuwait-born coach.
Jamil claimed that it won't be an easy tie against The Mumbaikars. “We are just preparing the way we have prepared this season. It will be a tough away match and to take something out of this match, we must not take Mumbai FC lightly at all,'' he asserted.
As for the hosts, gaffer Santosh Kashyap believes that playing on home soil would benefit his side.
''He (Khalid Jamil) is a fighter, a good coach, and a good motivator. He plays according to his style, I have my very own,'' discussed Kashyap.
The former Royal Wahingdoh boss revealed that defender Lalchhawnkima has been ruled out for two-to-three weeks following a hamstring injury the 25-year-old picked up in the last game.
"We have signed two foreign players. The first is Densill Theobald, who has played for Trinidad & Tobago and the other signing is Santana (Robson Chaves Santana) who is a Brazilian attacker,'' mentioned the ex-Salgaocar coach.
Densill Theobald is likely to feature this weekend however, Santana's inclusion in the starting eleven looks unlikely.
