Henry Onyekuru has returned to Everton to continue his recovery from injury.

The 20-year-old, on loan at Anderlecht, was stretched off while turning out for the Belgian champions against his former side Eupen on December 22, due to a knee injury.

Expected to be sidelined for up to six months, the versatile forward is ruled out of the ongoing season and has his World Cup chances with Nigeria hanging in doubts.

However, he has returned to his parent club where he hopes to recover on time.

"Back at Everton a little earlier than expected," Onyekuru wrote on Twitter.
