Henry Onyekuru is delighted following his brace in Anderlecht’s 4-3 victory over Mechelen in Friday’s Belgian First Division A clash.
Pieter Gerkens got the curtain raiser in the 18th minute of the game and the Nigerian doubled the lead 12 minutes later. Rob Schoofs reduced the deficit for the home team in the 34th minute but Onyekuru soon compounded to the woes of the opponents when he fired home in the 37th minute to complete his brace.
Lukasz Teodorczyk also registered a goal in the 43rd minute as Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s side went into the break with a 4-1 lead.
Yannick Ferrera’s men attempted a comeback but goals from Nicklas Pedersen and Boureima Bande were not enough as the Belgian champions ran away with the maximum points.
Onyekuru then took to the social media to revel the victory and the goals he scored.
“All praises due! A win and 2 more goals! Let's go Anderlecht,” Onyekuru tweeted.
The Nigeria international has now scored seven goals this season and will look to add to his tally when Anderlecht face Paris Saint-Germain in a Uefa Champions League tie on Wednesday.
