'He is happy here' - Milan insist Donnarumma will not be sold

The 18-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Italian capital in the summer but club chiefs say he is happy to remain

AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli insists goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is happy at San Siro amidst speculation he could leave at the end of the season.

The teenage Italy international has been linked with a host of European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, including big-money moves to either Manchester United or Manchester City.

However, Milan are determined to hold onto the 18-year-old and are confident in doing so, revealing the club are planning talks in regards to a new contract.

"We have had talks over the past week with his agents, which is normal," Mirabelli is quoted by talkSPORT. "We also had talks with Gigio and we asked him if he wanted to stay at Milan.

"He responded in an affirmative matter that he is happy here and he wants to keep playing for Milan.

"It is now up to us to find an agreement with his agents."

Having progressed through the Milan academy, Donnarumma broke into the Rossoneri first team last season and has gone on to make 67 appearances for the capital club, earning three full Italy caps.
