Harambee Stars winger Paul Were has signed for Kazakhstani top flight side FC Kaysar.

The former AFC Leopards star has penned a one year deal after ending his six month spell with Greek side FC Kalamata.

Kaysar have confirmed through their official club website the acquisition of the speedy winger. “We have completed the signing of Paul Were on a one year contract. The Kenyan star will don jersey number 8 after agreeing to sign and we hope he will help the team achieve set targets for the season.”

Were, who has also featured for several teams in Europe, was delighted with the deal. “I am happy to have signed for Kaysar. They are a very great club and my immediate task is to fight and get a starting place.”

FC Kaysar are a Kazakh club based in Gany Muratbayev Stadium in Kyzylorda. They are founding members of the Kazakhstan Premier League and have missed only three seasons following relegations.

The most successful was the season of 1998, when they won the Kazakhstan Cup and got fourth position in the league. Last season they also achieved this position. In 2009, the club finished 13th and were relegated.
