Harambee Starlets will now face Ethiopia in first round of the qualifiers after Botswana pulled out citing financial constraints

Harambee Starlets have advanced to the next stage of Women U-20 Fifa World Cup qualifiers after Botswana pulled out on Friday.

Kenya will now face Ethiopia in the first round of the qualifiers after Botswana pulled out citing financial constraints. “Botswana wrote a letter to Caf and copied to us (Football Kenya Federation).

"The association is citing lack of finances as the reason for withdrawing. However, we are now waiting for the final word from Caf on the way forward,” FKF Communication Officer, Barry Otieno told Goal.

Kenya was meant to play Botswana in the return leg on August 5 at Machakos Stadium. Kenya beat Botswana 7-1 in the first leg staged last Friday in Gaborone, Botswana.
