My team performed better despite loss, insists Euba's Owolabi

Although they lost on penalties, the gaffer believes his girls played the game better but were undone by spot-kicks

Euba Senior Secondary School crashed out of the GTBank Principals Cup after a 3-2 penalty loss to Isale Eko Grammar School, and the coach feels his team were the better side.

After a cagey encounter that ended in a 0-0 draw, the encounter had to be decided from 12-yard out and the Mushin side were bettered by their oppositions.

But Owolabi, who was happy with his side's quarterfinal feat, feels his girls impressive the most.

“[Isale-Eko’s] performance was very low compared to what my team is capable of but they got lucky on penalties,” Owolabi told Goal.

“My team really played but penalty is a game of luck is either you win or lose.

“But when it comes to penalties it is always 50-50.

“But we thank God that among over 300 secondary schools participating in this tournament in Lagos State we were able to be among the top 8 teams. So it has been very great for us,” he concluded.
