The duo opened the new season on a positive note with victories in Kumasi and Cape Coast respectively

Asante Kotoko came from a goal down to pick a 2-1 victory over Liberty Professionals in their Ghana Premier League opener on Sunday.

Yakubu Mohammed was the hero of the day at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, scoring twice after Ben Eshun gave the Scientific Soccer Lads a 35thminute lead. Mohammed’s equalizer was from the spot.

Elsewhere, Ebusua Dwarfs handed newly-promoted Bolga All Stars a 3-1 defeat in Cape Coast. Joseph Esso and Albert Hammond (2x) scored for coach Ricardo Da Rocha’s men while Wahid Issahaku fetched the visitors’ consolation.

At the Tema Stadium, Evans Obeng’s goal was not enough to save Berekum Chelsea from a 2-1 away reversal to newly-promoted Team Youth. Theophilus Okoe opened the scoring for the Harbour City Boys on 27 minutes before Joseph Bentil added the second 10 minutes later.

Medeama also got off to a winning start on Sunday with a 1-0 triumph over Wafa, courtesy of a goal from Bernard Ofori.

And finally in Dormaa, Aduana Stars recorded a 1-0 victory over Ashanti Gold, Derick Sasraku scoring for the home side.
