Gordinho: Kaizer Chiefs have the best players in the league... technically

Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho has admitted that coach Steve Komphela wasn't happy at all after watching his team drop points in the dying minutes.

Amakhosi shipped away goals in each of their last three league games, and subsequently missed out on the chance to win the PSL title.

Gordinho says Komphela told them that their recent setbacks had everything to do with mental strength.

The 22-year-old centre-backs feels the Glamour Boys technically have the best players in the league.

"Obviously the coach wasn't happy about conceding these goals. He wasn't himself, and he was trying hard. He pointed out to us that we need to be more ruthless as a team, and that we need to kill games off when we get the chances. Also that we need to defend stronger," Gordinho told the media gathered at Naturena.

"He also said that it's a mental thing. We are not lacking fitness and we are not lacking tactical discipline. Technically, we have the best players in the league. It's just about the mental aspect of  the game and making the right decisions," he said.

Furthermore, Gordinho said he was pleased with his overall performance this season, suggesting that this has been a season of growth for him.

"It's been a good season for me. I have played most of the games. It's been good... it's been nice to know that I have become more regular in that position and I'm doing well for the team, and I'm just looking forward to next season to continue where I left off," concluded Gordinho.
