Gor Mahia Secretary General says the club's secretariat is not aware of Stewards disbandment

Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi has clarified the issue around the club’s stewards ahead of league kick-off.

On Saturday, Organizing Secretary Judith ‘Nyangi’ Anyango convened a meeting with the club’s branches and disbanded the ‘old stewards’ to create room for ‘new stewards’, who will work for the club as from 2017 season.

Three days later, Treasurer Sally Bollo also called for a meeting with the stewards at Nyayo stadium where goons, believed to be in the old stewards faction, stormed to interrupt the entire proceedings.

Following all these happenings, Omondi has told Goal that his office and the club’s secretariat is not aware of disbandment of stewards explaining that an Executive Committee meeting held in January had formed committees to handle various issues at the club.

Sally Bollo was picked as the head of Security and Finance committee where stewards fall while Judith Anyango was appointed the head of Branch Development committee.

“If any official met with stewards and decided to disband them he/she had to officially communicate this to other officials. As the Secretary General or even from the Secretariat we are not aware that some stewards were disbanded. We only know that our Organizing Secretary Judith Anyango was to meet branches not stewards.

“We are saddened by what happened yesterday during Sally Bollo’s function and four of the boys who were involved are already in police custody at the Nyayo stadium police post. We are still doing thorough investigation for an appropriate action.”

It will be interesting to see how K’Ogalo officials, who assumed office in December 2016 will work until the end of 2020.
