The New England Revolution are poised to part ways with captain Jose Goncalves, as the club announced Monday that the 2013 MLS Defender of the Year's contract is set to expire at year's end.
Defender Darrius Barnes and midfielders Daigo Kobayashi and Gershon Koffie also have expiring contracts and have not agreed to new deals with the Revolution. In addition, the club has declined 2017 options for defender Jordan McCrary and midfielder Steve Neumann.
The Revolution were joined by New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls in making roster announcements Monday, with the MLS offseason set to officially begin Dec. 11 — the day after the MLS Cup final.
NYCFC has declined the contract options for defenders Jason Hernandez and Diego Martinez, midfielder Connor Brandt, and forward Tony Taylor, while midfielder Federico Bravo and forward Steven Mendoza will return to their parent clubs after seeing their loan stints expire.
Patrick Vieira's side has agreed to new deals with defender Ethan White and midfielder Mikey Lopez and finalized a permanent move for defender Shannon Gomez, who was on loan from Trinidadian side W Connection.
The Red Bulls, meanwhile, have chosen not to exercise the options for defenders Karl Ouimette and Ronald Zubar.
