Austin Oladapo has disclosed that he was elated to score against his former club, FC Ifeanyiubah on Sunday in Nnewi after his strike drew Gombe United level in their 2-2 away draw against the Anambra Warriors.
Oladapo pointed out that they came all out to correct the wrongs of their last tie against Niger Tornadoes which fetched them a point instead of three and that even though they were 2-0 down at the end of the first half, they kept the ball possession and it was no surprise they got the two goals they needed to pull a draw.
Isaac Loute scored two sensational free-kicks in the 36th and 45th minutes but Sani Abbani and Oladapo replied for the Savannah Scorpions in the 61st and 68th minutes to the delight of the travelling fans and the technical crew.
“It was a game we played one of our best matches of the season and we deserve the point we got. We played very well too and almost run away with the three points. I am also happy to score against my former club. It gave me joy that I contributed my quota towards the point we got against FC Ifeanyiubah,” Oladapo told Goal.
Gombe United are still 19th on the league table with 36 points from 31 matches.
