Arsenal v Bayern Munich Betting Special: Sanchez gunning to prove a point

After being forced to start from the bench in the defeat at Liverpool, Al Hain-Cole expects the Chilean to play a starring role against Die Roten

Left out of the starting line-up in their 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, Arsenal will need Alexis Sanchez on top form when they attempt to overturn a 5-1 first-leg deficit in Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The Chile international’s importance to Arsene Wenger’s team was only underlined by their improvement after his half-time introduction at Anfield, and he is available at 5/1 (6.00) with Paddy Power to offer another reminder by opening the scoring at the Emirates Stadium.

Top scorer with 20 goals in all competitions so far, Sanchez certainly looks like his side’s best bet at 11/8 (2.38) to find the net against a defence he scored past in the first leg in Germany.

However, with three goals in his last five matches against Die Roten, Olivier Giroud 11/8 (2.38) may also fancy his chances of adding to his two goals in two Champions League starts so far this season.

Having struck the Gunners’ only goal against Liverpool, Danny Welbeck is available at 11/5 (3.20) to get on the scoresheet once again here, while Theo Walcott 21/10 (3.10) and Lucas Perez 9/4 (3.25) offer alternative options for a side in desperate need of goals.

At the other end of the pitch, the Arsenal defenders face a daunting task of keeping out the in-form Robert Lewandowski, who has scored more goals in this season’s competition than anyone but Edinson Cavani and  Lionel Messi.

With 30 goals to his name in 32 starts in all competitions, the Polish striker is the 3/1 (4.00) favourite to break the deadlock in London, and 4/7 (1.57) to strike anytime against a team he has scored past three times in seven previous encounters.

As well as Lewandowski, the home side will also have to contend with the considerable attacking talents of Arjen Robben 6/4 (2.50) and Thomas Muller 6/4 (2.50), both of whom found the net in the first leg.

Beyond that deadly trio, Franck Ribery 6/4 (2.50) and Douglas Costa 13/8 (2.63) are sure to pose a massive threat to a team looking to become the first in Champions League history to overturn a four-goal first-leg deficit.

Sanchez to score anytime at 11/8 (2.38) for a 1.5pt stake with Paddy Power
