Paa Kwesi Fabin speaks on the Black Starlets' good start to the youth championship in Gabon

Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin is impressed by his side's five-star performance in their opening game at the 2017 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Captain Eric Ayiah and winger Ibrahim Sulley each scored twice to hand the Black Starlets a 4-0 win at Stade de Port-Gentil.

The win sees the two-time champions tie Guinea, who thrashed hosts Gabon 5-1 in the other group game, at the top of the table.

"I must also congratulate Cameroon for giving us a very good match, though we took our chances and won 4-0," Fabin said.

"Just as I noted during the pre-match conference, we are one united football family despite the fact that we won.

"Cameroon started well but the turning point was the first goal we scored; that gave our boys the confidence and they never looked back.

"It was when we scored the fourth goal that I knew that the match was won and lost."

Ghana play Guinea in their next game on Wednesday.

Three points in that fixture will seal qualification to the semi-finals as well as the 2017 Under-17 World Cup in India later this year.

"We want to focus on the next match and hopefully with a win, then we can talk about qualification for the World Cup," Fabin added.
