Ghana 1 Attram's de Visser 3: Black Stars B suffer humiliating defeat

The local Black Stars of Ghana were defeated 3-1 by academy side Attram's de Visser at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday ahead of the 2018 Chan qualifier against Burkina Faso

Head coach Kwesi Appiah benched players from Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko after they took part in the Super Clash on Sunday and paraded an equally strong side.

After an end-to-end action in the opening 25 minutes, Reginald Thompson opened the scoring five minutes later after connecting a pass from Douglas Mintah, before sending his effort past goalkeeper Joseph Addo.

Godfred Odametey then made it 2-0 four minutes later with a fine finish before Ashanti Gold midfielder Safiu Mumuni reduced the deficit for the Black Stars B, scoring from Zakaria Mumuni's rebound by the 40th minute.

After the break, coach Appiah ringed changes in his side and the new entrants brought additional energy to pile pressure on their opponents but, their efforts were thwarted by Visser's back-four.

On the hour mark, Thompson found a breach in the Black Stars' defence and scored his second goal of the day to restore de Visser's two goal lead. The youngster calmly tapped into an empty net after goalkeeper Addo was beaten.

The Black Stars pushed men forward in a bid to claim the leveller but their visitors were resolute at the back and held on to seal an awesome result.

The Black Stars B are expected to depart Ghana for Burkina Faso on Wednesday to continue preparations ahead of the first leg scheduled for Sunday.

The return leg will take place on August 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
