Mohammed Ghaddar explained that family is the big reason behind him wanting to move out of Kelantan

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) fans could be looking to cheer a new striker when the transfer window reopens on Monday.

In the past week leading up to the opening of the transfer window, the rumour mill has been rife with talk of Super League top scorer, Mohammed Ghaddar joining JDT from Kelantan.

The 33-year-old has scored 18 league goals thus far this season and is undoubtedly the most in-form striker in the league.

HRH Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) made no secret of JDT's intention to try and capture Ghaddar during this mid-season transfer window and even said as much during an open session with the fans last Monday.

The Southern Tigers' attempt to prise Ghaddar to Johor Bahru seemed to have taken a turn for the positive as reported by Berita Harian

"I have no intention to hurt Kelantan fans however as you know, I have a family who counts on me. I've told before that I will stay loyal to Kelantan but after discussing with several parties, I have made the decision to move. This is my own decision, not forced by any party or any problems with the team. I hope the fans can understand my situation," said Ghaddar in that interview.

The Lebanese was only in the stands when Kelantan took on PKNS FC in a friendly match on Saturday at Shah Alam Stadium, giving rise to the indication that his time with the Red Warriors is up.

In a related incident, Tan Sri Annuar Musa was also caught on video saying that Ghaddar himself has made a plea to Kelantan to allow him to leave and that negotiations are currently on-going with all parties.

If the transfer do go through and all things thus far, points toward that direction - Brian Ferreira looks the likeliest to get the chop from JDT. The forward has failed to live up to expectations and has spent most of the last few months only on the substitute bench when fit.

That said, Ferreira could still be kept on the books at least until the AFC Cup goes past the Zonal final stage as no new registration or replacement of players are allowed before then.

Given his age, the move for Ghaddar is unlikely one that will be done with long-term plans in mind. How the move could impact someone like Hazwan Bakri, who has been given the responsibility as the main striker whenever he's fit, is one to look out for.
