Frustrated Dodoo eager to take his chance at Rangers

Ghanaian striker Joe Dodoo has expressed worry over his lack of game time at Scottish outfit Rangers.

The 21-year-old joined the Gers on a four-year deal from English champions Leicester City last year, but has found life tough at the Ibrox Stadium.

The Kumasi-born has started only two of 15 league games played, but could be hopeful for better days following a goal and an assist in their 3-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

“The manager hasn’t said anything about the [coming] weekend [game with Partick Thistle] yet but either way I am ready,” Dodoo told Rangers TV.

“I haven’t played much this season yet but I will keep going and whenever I am called upon I am ready to play.

“I just need to keep working, get a start and get a run of games. I haven’t had a run of games for a long time; I have only started two games this season.

“You could say it is frustrating but sometimes a player will feel like they are ready to play and won’t get the opportunity and that is how football is.”

Dodoo has three league goals for the Gers so far.

“You have to train every day, work really hard and try and work yourself into the team,” Dodoo said.

“It’s not normal and in my ideal world I would be starting every game, playing every game and doing well in every game.

“It is difficult to take sometimes but you have to keep your head and wait for the opportunity.

“It is all mental, if you are not prepared in the mind then when you get on the pitch you’ll not do it – it is that simple.

“If you’re unhappy then you have to snap out of it and try and make the best of it every day because if you don’t you’re not going to get on the pitch and perform.”

Last season, Dodoo made one appearance as Leicester won the English Premier League.
