Akwa United’s Ubong Friday has warned his Promise Keepers’ teammates that they must respect their Wednesday league foes, Remo Stars and also listen to the instructions of their coaches if they are to pick valuable points from the den of the Sky Blue Stars.
The point’s disparity between both teams is 13 ahead of the tie fixed for the Gateway International Stadium, Shagamu but Friday revealed that Akwa United must put all what they have been tutored during practice sessions to use when they step out against Remo Stars.
“We can’t afford to underrate our opponents. Remo Stars are last on the league table and they will be desperate to get good result against us. We must respect them and stick to the instructions of the coaches for us to get a positive result. The game in Shagamu is one that we can win but we will be arrogant to be too sure without respecting our foes,” Friday told Goal.
The Promise Keepers’ forward has scored five goals in the league this season including the wonder goal against ABS which earned him the nomination for the Goal of the Week in the topflight and he has rediscovered his game again since coach Abdu Maikaba resumed with Akwa United at the beginning of the season.
With Friday’s contributions, Akwa United are fourth on the league table with 39 points from 24 games with a game at hand against Rivers United yet to be played.
