Finally! Crystal Palace score first Premier League goal in eighth match

Yohan Cabaye's 10th-minute strike marked the club's first league goal all season after they endured seven scoreless matches to begin the campaign

Crystal Palace finally ended their Premier League scoring drought on Saturday, as they netting twice against Chelsea.

Palace had failed to find the net in their first seven Premier League fixtures, conceding 17 times en route to losing all seven matches.

15/2 for Everton and Brighton to draw 1-1

The run of futility set an English record for most consecutive matches lost to begin a season without scoring a goal.

But in the 10th minute against Chelsea on Saturday, a Yohan Cabaye effort was deflected into the net off Cesar Azpilicueta and mercifully brought a run of 731 minutes without a Premier League goal to an end.

Patrick van Aanholt was the last Palace player to score a Premier League goal when he netted in a 4-0 win at Hull City on May 14.

Palace's lead didn't last long on Saturday, as Tiemoue Bakayoko equalised for Chelsea just seven minutes after Cabaye's goal, though Wilfried Zaha ensured that Palace headed into the half-time break in the lead, as he scored their second goal of the season.

Roy Hodgson's men would go on to win the match 2-1, giving their flagging campaign a massive boost.
