'The best all-round centre forward I played with' - Ferdinand pays tribute to Rooney

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has written a glowing tribute to Wayne Rooney on his Facebook page. 

Rooney's return to Everton after 13 years at Manchester United was confirmed on Sunday.

And the 31-year-old's former team-mate with the Red Devils and England has paid tribute on his Facebook page, calling Rooney the "best all round centre forward I played with."

Ferdinand also spoke about the first time he saw Rooney at England training, and how he immediately tried to convince the then-Everton player's family that he should move to Manchester United. 

"I wanted this ridiculous talent alongside me for years to come on a day to day basis," Ferdinand said. 

Rooney scored a total of 253 goals at United, and is England's all-time leading scorer with 53 goals.
