Faouzi Ghoulam pulls out of Algeria squad

Illness has forced the 26-year-old out of the Desert Warriors' squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup Qualifiers

According to reports in Italy, Napoli’s defender Faouzi Ghoulam will not link up with the Algeria national team ahead of their 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Cameroon on Saturday.

The influential defender was due to join up with his international side for the encounter but remains doubtful for the match due to illness.

Ghoulam was taken off ill with a virus during Maurizio Sarri’s team’s 3-0 win over Cagliari in Serie A last weekend according to Football Italia.

He was replaced late in that game and has been unable to shake off the illness which has forced for his withdrawal.

The defender who as chirped in with five decisive contributions (two goals, three assists) in seven outings so far this term will surely be missed by the Desert Warriors as he will remain in Italy until he recovers fully.
