Persija Jakarta's Marko Simic has been chosen as last week's Fans' Asian Player of the Week, following his impressive performance in his team's 4-1 win over Tampines Rovers in an AFC Cup matchday two fixture.
Simic was in his element, leading the lines well and scoring a hat-trick, as the Indonesian side put in an impressive performance against the Singaporean opponents. He was also named the Toyota Player of the Week.
Simic gave them the lead in the 12th minute when he slammed home Riko Simanjuntak’s cut back from the right. Simic got his second goal of the night in the 74th minute before completing his hat-trick four minutes before the end of regulation time to add an emphatic touch to the scoreline. The forward played the entire ninety minutes for Persija and tallied four shots on target while also completing 69% of his attempted passes.
Also in the fray for the honour were Shaher Al Shakir of Al Jaish and Hassan Chaito of Al Ahed - both of whom were impressive in the games this past week.
But the fans made their voice count as Simic received all the votes.
