'Fake news' - Man City goalkeeper Bravo addresses transfer rumours

The Chilean has refuted any suggestion that he is looking for a way out of the Etihad after struggling to adapt in England since moving from Barcelona

Claudio Bravo claims reports suggesting that he is already seeking a transfer away from Manchester City are “fake news”.

The Chilean has endured a testing start to life in English football following a high-profile switch from Barcelona.

Adapting to the demands of the Premier League was always going to be tough, but added scrutiny was placed on Bravo following the events which preceded his arrival.

With Pep Guardiola having edged long-serving goalkeeper Joe Hart towards the Etihad Stadium exit, big things were expected of anyone deemed capable of filling the England international’s boots.

Bravo was acquired as a ball-playing last line of defence and a man who would better suit the system being put in place by the new man at the City helm.

Guardiola has, however, seen his tactical tweaking backfire, with Bravo struggling to adjust his game and now filling back-up duties to Willy Caballero.

It has been suggested that the 33-year-old will look to cut his losses this summer and seek a fresh start elsewhere, but he insists that is not the case and that he is feeling more settled.

Bravo told reporters while away on international duty: “It’s all false, that I’m looking for another place to play because I want to leave, things that are not true.

“I’m happy in England and so is my family.

“The issue that I was not playing came out, many examples of fake news have come out. Things that, above all, have no information about them.

“Many things also come out from this country that are not true - that I have a psychologist, or an English teacher to have a faster adaptation.”

While claiming to be happy at City, Bravo’s last Premier League outing for the club came in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham on January 21.

His three appearances since then have all come in the FA Cup, although he has helped Guardiola’s side progress to the semi-finals of that competition and a Wembley date with Arsenal.
