The Phobians cruised past the lower division side while Nea Salimina needed a marathon penalty kicks to progress

Ghana FA Cup round of 32 took place at 16 centres over the weekend as the Premier League goes into a two-week break.

The action started on Saturday in Dansoman, when Liberty Professionals came from behind to defeat Uncle T FC 2-1 at the Carl Reindolf Park. Benjamin Ackah shot the visitors in front before two second half goals from Bernard Arthur and Benjamin Eshun sent the hosts to the next stage of the competition.

On Sunday, Hearts of Oak hammered ten-man Kotoku Royals 4-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium thanks to a brace from centre-back Vincent Atinga and a goal each from Kwame Kizito and Cosmos Dauda respectively. After the visitors contained the Phobians in the opening 20 minutes, Patrick Razak won a penalty and Atinga calmly slotted his effort in before Kizito and Dauda made it 3-0 after the break.

With nine minutes left on the clock, Razak was brought down once again by Kotoku goalkeeper after the striker was played through by Dauda and the referee did not hesitate to give the shot-stopper his marching orders. Atinga once again made no mistake as he sent his effort past the substitute goalkeeper.

In Swedru, Asante Kotoko began life under new coach Steve Polack with a 1-0 victory over Proud United. A late strike from Baba Mahama was enough to see them through to the round of 16 and interestingly, it was the midfielder's first-ever goal since joining from Techiman City. Polack has thus become the fourth manager appointed by the Kumasi giants this season after Zdravko Lugarusic, Godwin Ablordey and Stephen Frimpong Manso.

Nea Salimina shared the spoils 1-1 with Techiman Eleven Wonders in regulation time in Dormaa Ahenkro but made it to the next level after a marathon penalty shootout, qualifying 13-12 on penalties.

Goals from Bismark Oppong, John Arthur and Justice Blay gave Medeama a 3-0 victory over New Edubiase United in Tarkwa while Elmina Sharks defeated Bibiani Gold Stars 3-0 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
