Free State Stars striker Mohammed Anas made a hilarious mistake after producing a man of the match performance for his side against Ajax Cape Town on Friday night.
The Ghanaian had proven his class to Ea Lla Koto on the pitch, netting in each half to complete his brace in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) game which was played at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa.
Anas opened the scoring 18 minutes into the game when Ajax goalkeeper Jody February's misplaced pass found Paulus Masehe and the Stars veteran set-up Anas, who then put the visitors into the lead.
With his side losing 2-1 with 15 minutes left, Anas exhibited his striker's instincts by pouncing on a rebound when February palmed the ball into the forward's path. He scored to ensure that the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Anas was deservedly handed the man of the match award at the end of the game in front of a live national television audience. Then came the moment that stunned many viewers as he was thanking his fans.
The former Maritzburg United striker went on to thank his "wife and girlfriend", but he quickly realised his mistake, and moved swiftly to explain that he meant his wife - apologizing to her in the process.
