Birmingham City have expressed an interest in Juventus forward Francesco Margiotta, Goal understands.
The 23-year-old is a Turin native and a product of the academy system at the Serie A champions.
He is yet to make an appearance in the Italian top-flight for his parent club, but has furthered his development during a number of productive loan spells.
The latest of those has taken him to Swiss side Lausanne Sport.
Margiotta has eight goals to his name this season and is starting to attract admiring glances from further afield.
Lausanne are understandably reluctant to part with a key man mid-season, with a summer switch elsewhere considered to be more likely.
Birmingham are among those to have enquired as to his possible availability, with Blues boss Gianfranco Zola scouring the market in his native Italy for potential new recruits.
Margiotta is under contract at Juve until 2018, but an offer of around €2 million (£1.7m) is expected to be enough to secure his signature.
