Enyimba’s Andrew Abalogu has ruled himself out of the People’s Elephant’s mid week league tie with Gombe United slated for the Pantami Stadium after he hurt his hamstring shortly after scoring his team’s winning goal against Plateau United last weekend.
Abalogu smashed home the only goal against the Peace Boys to ensure that Enyimba move to fifth on the league log with 34 points from 22 games but he hinted that even though the hamstring injury was not much he has been told to rest it and make himself ready for their next home tie with Abia Warriors this weekend.
“The injury overshadowed the joy of scoring the winning goal but I am still happy that it won’t rule me out for long. I am definitely out of the game with Gombe United but I am hoping to be fit for the weekend game with Abia Warriors. It is a shame that I had to get the injury at a time I am re-establishing myself in the team. I will bounce back,” Abalogu told Goal.
“Even though I won’t be travelling to Gombe, I am wishing my teammates a good outing there. We are in need of away points and I am sure they can get it because the game will be played under closed doors and the fact that we have a good team.”
Abalogu joined Enyimba from ABS some seasons ago after he and his then teammates orchestrated a 3-1 home win over the Aba giants in Ilorin.
