A wall collapsed at Demba Diop stadium in Dakar as police fired tear gas at both sets of supporters

Eight people died and at least 49 were injured after clashes between fans prompted a stampede at the Demba Diop Stadium on Saturday.

A fight broke between the police and rival fans at the end of a League Cup final between Stade de Mbour and Union Sportive Ouakam and prompted the police to respond by using tear gas, which led to panic and a stampede.

As spectators tried to leave the stadium, a wall collapsed under their weight and eight people died and dozens were injured.
